About Wiki! Thing 17
Wiki Wiki! Wikis are a way to discuss topics of interest with anyone in the whole world. You can discuss the books you like, problems within your library system, ideas for improving the service at your library, etc. The ways wikis can be used is endless. I wish I had more time to explore these things but I did "tag" some of my favorite wikis to check out later using del.icio.us! I also went to the Maryland Sandbox wiki. Unfortunately, I started getting a lot of e-mails from the sandbox, so I had to change my status. It's all good!

Library 2.0 Thing 15
This thing was not a fun thing, but an interesting thing. Library 2.0 is a concept for keeping libraries up to date with the latest technology and the way patrons seek information and data. It is of course based on Web 2.0 and the fact that people use the web not just for looking up information, but for work, study and play. I thought the article "Away from the icebergs" was especially interesting. The part where he talks about the "just in case" library collection that anticipates what the patron will need, without wasting space on what they won't need. Rick Anderson, who wrote the article said that in his library they have seen a 55% drop in circulation rates over the past 12 years which makes it harder to justify a buildup of the print collection. He suggests that with Web 2.0 a reality, patrons will "expect access to everything - digital collections of journals, books, blogs, podcasts, etc. You think they can't have everything? Think again. This may be our great opportunity." At a time when are constantly trying to figure out ways to draw patrons into the library, we may have to instead think of ways to bring the library to the patron.Very interesting ideas. Check them out!

Starry Night Thing 13
I found delicious to be fantastic! I was a little worn out from a long day at work when I started it but then after a little effort I discovered the fun I could have with delicious. It is a great thing for discovery and research too. There sure are a lot of interesting people in the world. I discovered a tag for a discovery exercise on learning the night sky and how to navigate by using the stars. Now I can fing my way home if I get lost. Yes!! Here is a beautiful picture of the night sky. Happy blogging!

The Ever-Growing Fabric Stash Technorati Thing 14
I went to Technaratic(sp) and found some great blogs to read. I love to sew and I found a neat blog on using organic cotton fabrics for sewing. I even posted a comment. Neat!
Herb Garden Thing 9
Wow! There are a lot of interesting Library people out there. I checked out a few library sites, one specifically related the tech services and joined the blog. Pretty cool. Lots of resources waiting to be discovered.
RSS feeds Thing 8
This was the hardest "thing" so far for me. I finally got a feed set up that goes to my e-mail so that was pretty neat. I have been checking out other blogs from websites I visit and am becoming a regular blogger. I hope to learn how a blog can benefit a business. My sister runs a herbalist business from her home and I am thinking of helping her set up a blog. Any suggestions?
